An interpretation focussed project that aims to deliver a series of heritage trails and wayfinding around Bridport and the surrounding parishes. Through a series of workshops it was determined that there was a wealth of information that would be of interest to the local community and visitors alike. Designs were developed to ensure that Bridport stories could be made accessible under a consistent heritage identity and a mapping trail-based strategy was developed to encourage exploration and experiences around the town centre and wider landscape region.
Bridport lies at the meeting place of three rivers and Bridport’s historical tie to the rope making industry formed the foundations for the interpretation concepts. Design proposals include wayfinding posts in a variety of forms, groundwork installations and 'breadcrumb' interventions. The flexibility of the approach allows for a scaleable solution that can be added to and more developed over time.
