Richard Wolfströme MISTD AoU FRSA
I am an award-winning creative with over 36 years experience. My interest is in furthering information and environmental art and design by continually challenging the technical and creative disciplines. I specialise in holistic wayfinding and cultural placemaking which inspires me to explore and develop unique design solutions for places, buildings, urban environments, parks and landscapes. I develop interventions that give a sense of ownership and meaning to local communities as well as creating clear and informative experiential design for visitors. In doing this, citizens feel a connection and understanding of their environment which inspires to create a greater sense of community.
My work also includes nomenclature, branding and the development of identity and information systems for places and buildings to create sympathetic modern contemporary solutions that ensure places have a coherent, appropriate and desirable approach to environmental and spatial information design making them more accessible. Well-branded information materials for both print and digital communications can also be developed as part of a cohesive approach.
I have determined a nomenclature to help in defining wayfinding and public art – wayfinding being that which is involved specifically in direction, A to B movement and signage and wayfaring where he has developed an original and unique offering that seeks to integrate wayfinding and a more holistic approach that explores, not only A to B direction, but also develops opportunities for trails, explorations and public art working and engaging with local artists, stakeholders and place communities.
I continue to develop my work across a variety of sectors and I am often seen on the speaking circuit in the UK and Scandinavia presenting my ideas on design and bringing meaning to place.
